Heevy

I found this in Zoey's backpack yesterday. TJ is a boy in her class. I am praying he did not see this.

Nut Gallery

I am having a bit of a reality check. Over spring break, in Galveston, I walked into a bakery. They had a little sign that said

'If you are allergic to any nuts, we recommend that you not eat any of our products."

Then it got worse.

Today I ate a pecan cluster. Then my throat swelled up and I could barely talk. I am also allergic to Pecans. This was more devastating than macadamia nuts. here's why:

pecan pie

chocolate pecan pie

pecan sandies

almond cashew pecan clusters

banana nut muffins

my favorite oatmeal has pecans in it.

I am going to see an allergist this week to see what else I can't eat anymore. I am hoping for good news. Damon, being in the allergy biz, says I may be allergic to more than we know right now.

I don't think I can handle that kind of deprivation!

Where does the time go?

This week has been wonderful. Spring break, grandparents, the temple, the aquarium, the beach, late nights, and perhaps the coolest thing of all. Liam's Birthday. He is three. I can't believe it. It makes me sad to think that when Zoey turned three Liam was three months old. Those three years have FLOWN by. There are no words.

Happy Birthday Liam!

Here is a little look at what we did this week!

Forgotten Treasures

I always carry with me a little digital camera. I have not downloaded it in months. It had some real beauties on it.

I think this was in San Antonio?

My boy is so handsome.

Liam is having issues with food lately. This is his protest to eating rigatoni with marinera sauce on it. He cried for 10 minutes with that noodle in his mouth. I have to admire is persistance.

Our little Jedi joins us for breakfast quite often. Here he is enjoying a Pop-Tart and coco puffs..

Vegan-ish

After some research, I have decided that going Vegan is a good idea. Some people switch to loose weight, which I don't need. Others go with the whole "love all the fluffy animals and don't abuse them by drinking milk" mentality, which I don't get. I still think its a good idea. That being said, I strongly believe in the Word of Wisdom. Moderation in all things. So I have decided to combine the two. I love the vegan lifestyle, mainly the copious and diverse amounts of fruits, veggies, beans, and whole grains. Dairy is also nill in the vegan world. I also love red meat, chicken, eggs, and fish. I think there is a healthy balance. Now my mission is to combine the two. Ethically, I don't think the vegan-ites will agree with me, so I have declared myself

VEGAN-ISH

This is an example of an Vegan-ish meal. Grilled Salmon on a bed of delish pan seared broccoli slaw salad with white wine vinegar. can you say YUM?

I am so excited for spring break. A whole week with both my kids and Damon AND Damon's Parents AND LIAM'S THRID BIRTHDAY PARTY!!

I've been inspired

My body is trying to tell me something. I have been sick for about 3 days every week for the past 4 weeks. I had an anaphylactic reaction to a macadamia nut on Saturday. I can't eat dairy. I feel like crap. All the time.

Enter Robin. Robin is my amazing friend from Colorado. I admire her in too many ways. Might be on the verge of idolizing. Anyway. She and her hubby went VEGAN. Hardcore, no apologies VEGAN. No meat, no animal products. At first I was like, you are crazy. But then, after reading her blog, its all about how good she feels, and how much better she sleeps, and how her body is functioning like a fine tuned machine. I confess, I found myself being jealous/thinking I want to feel like that! She has been a Vegan for 15 days. It is really inspiring me, and I am going to do it.

With everything that is going on in my life, full time wife, full time mom, full time student, full time primary president, I need to have my body be in tip top shape, and not relying on diet coke to get me through the day.

Change is a good thing, right? I am going tomorrow to check out some books on becoming a Vegan. Wish me luck!

Too many movies

A few days ago, Liam insisted on watching "March of the Penguins" It was captivating for both kids. About five minutes into the movie, Zoey asked me,

"Mom? When are they going to talk?"

She didn't really understand that people do make movies where animals don't talk.

Thursday I was at the grocery store. Liam saw a man who was on the large side, clad in a white t-shirt, and a red and orange hat. He then yelled,

"IT'S THE CHICKEN MAN!!!!!"

I keep telling myself he didn't hear Liam, but I'm pretty sure he did. Maybe he has never seen Toy Story 2? I guess its payback telling my Mom she had huge panties in the grocery store restroom when I was about the same age.
